There is some very wise wisdom from King Solomon in these verses. We just finished up looking at what a Proverbs 31 wife looks like. Now we will see how the book of Proverbs talks about the relationship between a husband and wife.

These verses talk about the marriage bed and how we should leave it undefiled. The relationship between husband and wife is sacred. God is the One who brings a man and woman together, and through marriage the two become ONE! The relationship between Sexual Intimacy and Spiritual Growth in the Bible always coincided with healthy relationships, and these principles are still true to this day.

To those who are married: DON’T HAVE SEX with anyone who isn’t your spouse. That’s the main thing these verses are saying. God put the two of you together, and what God has brought together, let no person TEAR IT APART! That’s what the devil is trying so hard to do. Affairs are rampant even to this day, but if we are truly following Jesus, we shouldn’t let anyone or anything get in the way of our marriages!

To those who are not married, yet: Abstinence is key. Abstinence from sexual relationships is the most effective way to honor God with your body. Don’t test the waters of your relationships by trying to get to 1st, 2nd, or 3rd base…because home base is the only place that’s left, and that should be reserved for your wedding night, if you know what I mean.

Want to have a growing relationship with your spouse? Keep your focus on your marriage and on your relationship with Jesus, because if Jesus is at the center of your marriage, you will have no problem focusing on each other in every aspect of your marriage.
